One of the most visited states in the US is the gorgeous, southern state of Florida. If you're looking for a fun filled family friendly magical holiday, then Florida should be at the top of your list. Here's what you could be doing as a family in Florida:
We are family!
Coming with the kids? You’re in for the ride of your life! If you are coming with your clan on a Florida holiday, one of the best resorts in the world is waiting for you: Disneyland Orlando. One of the most popular family resorts ever, Disneyland Orlando is bursting with rides and attractions that will leave everyone astonished.
Did you love Pirates of the Caribbean? Then you have to try the theme park ride of the same name, which inspired the monster hit film series. Amazingly, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was opened as far back as 1967 and has been providing thrill-seekers with incredible highs and lows ever since. Based in the Magic Kingdom, this is one of the most perennially popular rides in Disneyland, so make sure you start queuing on time when you arrive with your family.
More examples of family orientated fun are embodied by the many differing watersport activities available. Try a vigorous spell of kayaking in the Sugarloaf Key of the exuberant Key West area of the state. You and your children can have a great time discovering the marine life by going snorkelling and scuba diving. One of the best places for this is the Dry Tortugas National Park. After a fun packed holiday with your family, do not be surprised if your children want to come to Florida next year and the year after!
The Floridian climate.
The sun always shines in Florida! With top temperatures of roughly 32 degrees, and lows approximately of 21 degrees, you’ll be soaking up rays from January to December! Check out this climate report to gauge the glory of the Sunshine State.
Make it special, create a twin centre Caribbean odyssey.
Create a bespoke multi centre holiday and get the best of what Orlando and the Caribbean have to offer. Check out these spectacular destinations: Antigua, Barbados, Cancun, Dom Rep, Grenada, Jamaica, St Lucia and the Bahamas. Our advisors organise multi centre holidays everyday, so pick up the phone and create your own picture of paradise.
Where to stay?
The majority of Florida is located on a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by ocean. The tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean flank the East Coast of Florida, while the West Coast is completely surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico. A location like this offers plenty of breathtaking and gorgeous beaches for your Florida holiday. With an exhaustive array of beaches to choose from in the Sunshine State, finding the perfect family holiday in the sand and surf is easy. Finding the time to do everything else, however, is the hard part!
More than just a theme park state!
Along with the numerous theme and water parks in Florida, families looking for a fun filled break in the Sunshine State will be surprised to find more to this lovely peninsula.
Check out Harry P. Leu Gardens and walk through one of the most stunningly scenic spots in Orlando beside Lake Rowena. As you meander through the walkways and decked bridges of Guernsey Park you’ll slowly realise that Florida isn’t just an all-action destination. Take a walk, see the natural beauty of this sub-tropical region and go for an idyllic family picnic.
But there’s sop much more to this region! At Discovery Cove you’ll be able to swim and play with bottlenose Dolphins, an activity for the whole family to enjoy. Meanwhile, why not indulge in a spot of retail therapy at the Mercado and purchase some classic American merchandise.
Legoland, Florida.
A new addition to the theme park dynasty has been born. Take a look at Legoland Florida for yourself.
Beahces in Florida
The most popular holidays are spent simply relaxing and enjoying the Florida beaches and sunshine on world famous shores. From Tampa, all the way down to Key West, and everywhere in between, you'll find some of the most hospitable beaches in the world. If you like to get out and mingle, these beaches are a great place to go. Most of the coastal cities have at least one area that includes a public beach. Try St. Petersburg’s great public beaches, which have proven very popular with holidaymakers.
A beach holiday, Miami style.
Miami was immortalised in Will Smith's jovial ode to the city, and as Smith intoned, ‘on the sneak, Miami bring[s] [the] heat for real’! It certainly does, and as much of the town centre is constructed with an Art Deco influence, the architectural style amps up the heat for real.
This style is evinced in many of the hotels on South Beach and Miami Beach. The pop of the turquoise blue sea and the snowflake white and blue hotels in Miami are a hallmark of the city that has not been successfully replicated in other towns.
Come to Miami if you want to stay in luxury. Take the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami for example. The famous M-Bar is frequented by the high rollers of Florida, so you can get an inside look into what real Floridians drink for a great time out with friends. The martinis at the swanky M-Bar will keep you well hydrated before you start the night right by clubbing in the bars and clubs of central Miami.
The Everglades and Florida's natural beauty.
Florida is one of the best places in the world to take a holiday. The everglades and swamplands merely scratch the surface of all there is to see and do in this southern holiday paradise. Pay a visit to the Big Cypress National Preserve in the south of the state and experience the archetypal American prairie. Let the meandering trails take you to some spectacular mangroves and orchids. You’ll encounter nine federally-listed endangered species if you’re lucky, but the most inquisitive of traveller will stumble across some rare flora and fauna in this American prairie.
